Security forces apprehended more than 240 terrorists in a targeted operation against a Hamas command center in Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, the Israel Defense Forces and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) said in a joint statement on Saturday.

Fifteen among those arrested at the command center in Jabalia infiltrated Israel during the Oct. 7, 2023 invasion, the IDF and Shin Bet said.

“Despite repeated calls to refrain from allowing terrorists to exploit hospitals for military activities, IDF and Shin Bet intelligence identified that terrorists were once again using Kamal Adwan Hospital as a command center for its military operations in Jabalia,” the statement read.

ׅ“Following this intelligence, the IDF conducted and completed a targeted operation against the Hamas terror stronghold inside Kamal Adwan Hospital,” the military and Shin Bet added.

The IDF’s 401st Brigade encircled Kamal Adwan Hospital and killed terrorists in the vicinity, with Shayetet 13 (“Flotilla 13”) naval commandos entering the hospital and locating and confiscating weapons in the area, including grenades, guns, munitions and other military equipment, the statement continued.

Outside the hospital, “terrorists fired anti-tank missiles and RPGs at the troops and attempted to carry out additional attacks against the troops. The troops swiftly eliminated the terrorists. In addition, the [Israeli Air Force] conducted strikes that eliminated terrorists attempting to flee the area. There were no IDF casualties,” the military said.

Some Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other terrorist group members tried to pose as patients or flee in ambulances, according to the statement.

TEL AVIV (JTA) — When he spoke with a news anchor on Thursday night, Israeli reservist Aviad Frija was hailed by right-wing politicians and commentators as a hero for his role in responding to a terror attack at a Jerusalem bus stop earlier that day.

By Monday, Frija was arrested by the IDF and under investigation. The man he had shot was not a suspected terrorist but an Israeli civilian who had himself played a role in halting the attack.

According to video from the scene, Frija had shot the man, a 38-year-old lawyer named Yuval Doron Castleman, after Castleman had gotten on his knees, dropped his gun and put his hands in the air to show that he was not a threat. Castleman, a former police officer turned lawyer, was initially left bleeding on the ground and later died of his wounds, a day shy of his 38th birthday.

Castleman “did everything he needed to do so they could identify him. He went down on his knees, opened his jacket to show he didn’t have any explosives on him, yelled at them, ‘Don’t shoot, I’m Jewish, I’m Israeli,’ and they continued to shoot him,” his father, Moshe Castleman, said on Israeli Army Radio.

Castleman’s death has drawn scrutiny to the ways in which Israel’s right-wing government has encouraged everyday Israelis to own guns and fight terror themselves — a gambit to boost security that, critics say, has instead led to the spilling of more Israeli blood. And Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — who already faces widespread public disapproval over his handling of Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israel — has come in for more criticism in recent days over what some say was a flippant response to Castleman’s death.

“This has allowed a jungle in terms of everything related to distributing weapons, using weapons,” Eran Etzion, a former deputy head of Israel’s National Security Council, said on Kan, Israel’s public broadcaster. “This is a terrible thing that will have far-reaching consequences… an atmosphere where everyone will take a weapon, and use it.”

Castleman’s family is also castigating officials for their response. His father and sister Shaked have called his death an “execution,” while his sister Noga said the family did not hear from the police until several hours after the incident and did not get the chance to comfort Castleman in his final hours of life.

“We carried on with our lives as he was fighting for his life,” Noga said, according to Kan. “We weren’t there to caress him, to call to him. I wouldn’t wish upon anyone that they hear what happened to a loved one in such an unclear way.”

After his death, said Shaked, “instead of mourning, we find ourselves in a war for justice.”

For more than a year, Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s far-right national security minister, has encouraged private citizens to own guns and has made Israel’s historically strict gun-control requirements more lenient. He has also pushed to loosen open-fire regulations for police officers, whom he oversees. Earlier this year, he praised an Israeli settler who killed a Palestinian in an altercation. (Frija is a member of the Hilltop Youth, a group of young extremist settlers, as well as a reservist in the IDF.)

Since Oct. 7, Ben-Gvir said in a recent government hearing, more than 260,000 people have applied for gun licenses. “When the war started, we knew that we were right when we said that every place that has a weapon can save a life,” he said at a recent meeting of his party, Otzma Yehudit or Jewish Power.

But Ben-Gvir’s policies have faced backlash. In recent weeks, Israeli media reported that U.S. officials were threatening to stop supplying guns to Israel if they continued to wind up in the hands of civilians. (The Department of State declined to comment, with an official telling JTA the department does not comment as a matter of policy on “the status of licensed direct commercial defense sales activities.”) On Monday, the head of Israel’s Firearm Licensing Department resigned in protest of the loosened gun ownership requirements.

And critics of Netanyahu’s government have drawn a link between Ben-Gvir’s policies and Frija’s shooting of Castleman, even though Frija was in uniform at the time.

Moshe Yaalon, a former Netanyahu ally and defense minister, posted online that Ben Gvir’s “populist calls” to loosen open-fire regulations “contributed to the tragic result.” Yaalon and others also linked the shooting to a 2016 incident in which IDF soldier Elor Azaria shot dead a disarmed Palestinian terrorist who was lying on the ground. Azaria was tried and convicted but also became a hero to some on the right.

Netayahu’s critics have also chided him for his initial response to the incident, in which he defended Ben-Gvir’s policy though he acknowledged that it posed potential dangers.

“We know that in the waves of terror in the last decade and earlier, the presence of armed civilians often saves the situation and has prevented a huge disaster,” he said. “I think that in the present situation we need to continue this policy. I fully support that. It may be that we will pay a price for this, and that’s life.”

The “that’s life” comment particularly irked critics, and on Sunday, Netanyahu offered a more sympathetic message in a video shared to his social media in which he said he had spoken to Castleman’s father.

“Yuval Doron Castleman is a hero of Israel. In a supreme act of bravery, Yuval saved many lives,” Netanyahu said. “However, unfortunately, a terrible tragedy occurred there – and the man who had saved others was killed. There must be a thorough inquiry.”

In the days following the incident, the IDF has released several statements indicating that its rules of engagement forbid firing upon suspects with their hands raised, and announced on Monday that Frija is being detained and questioned in what is called a “preliminary arrest.” Since his initial interview, Frija has subsequently claimed that he was acting out of fear for his own life.

Critics of the shooting on the left do not see it as an isolated incident, but as the result of a culture that has been nurtured for years on the Israeli right. Avner Gvaryahu, director of the Breaking the Silence, an anti-occupation group focused on the experiences of combat veterans, described a “years-long campaign led by the right-wing politicians, organizations, spokespeople, and journalists to ‘not tie the hands of our soldiers’” when they face a threat — though he noted that it was impossible to know what Frija was thinking in the moment.

Gvaryahu, whose organization leads tours in the West Bank, said he sees that culture taking hold there as well. He said, from what he’s witnessed, rules of engagement for soldiers are “becoming more flexible, basically, making it easier to shoot.”

In the face of the criticism, Ben Gvir and others on the right have portrayed the incident as a horrible accident. In an online post, right-wing journalist Yotam Zimri called the shooting a “terrible tragedy” and implied that it was wrong to place blame on Frija.

“There are no bad guys in this story except for the two Arab murderers,” he said, referring to the two Hamas-affiliated terrorists who perpetrated Thursday’s attack. “If you’re looking for other bad guys, there’s something wrong with you.”

But during a visit with Castleman’s family on Monday, Israeli President Isaac Herzog acknowledged that the state bore some responsibility for his death.

“I have come here not as a private citizen but as the president of the state of Israel, to ask forgiveness and express great appreciation for a hero of Israel who did something great and courageous,” Herzog said, adding that Castleman “paid with his life in what I see as the worst and most outrageous way possible.”

I am writing this to correct some of the false information about Mr. Macy. I learned of these facts researching online and I have no connection to the aggrieved. Despite his professed Catholic faith, Mr. Macy was involved in creating a charity that was later deemed fraudulent for tax purposes according to court documents. Additionally, he provided false testimony under oath to assist Emi Okoshi in continuing to receive spousal financial support, claiming she was merely renting a room in his Upper East Side apartment and that he was just her landlord. He could provide no logical rational why she was living with him instead of in one of the 23,000 apartments his company, TGM Associates, owns. The court dismissed this claim and terminated the alimony.

Furthermore, Ms. Okoshi falsely claimed to have lost her job, although her employer documented that she had resigned. Subsequently, she applied for and was approved for welfare benefits, during which time she traveled extensively with him globally to various resorts, funded by taxpayer money and child support payment made by Akane's father. The two married on December 9th, 2015.

He further enabled the kidnaping and custodial interference of the daughter of Okoshi and her ex-husband by not responding to request for information via proper legal channels.

Lying to hurt people or for financial gain appears to be a core part of who he was. He passed on these dubious traits to all those who come in close contact with him. There appears to be no explanation for his refusal to aid in reunification efforts.

Akane Stephanie Wilson also Known as Akane Okoshi, Akane Benattar, has taken up these dubious traits by filing false police reports against her father. On July 22, 2009, Akane claimed that her father came to Mr. Macys apartment in New York City and tried to abduct her. She filed a complaint with the New York City Police. Her father was actually at the NJ Shore at Sandy Hook at the time. Time stamped photographs and toll receipts, and a beach parking pass documented where he was at the time. She has gone on to file other false reports.

It is thought that she is a victim of parental alienation and severe child abuse by her mother. She was isolated from all of her family members and denied any type of contact with them when her mother left her father to be with Tim Blunk, An ex-convict terrorist:

Tal Mitnick And Sofia Orr — Two Israeli teenagers who are in prison for refusing to serve in the Israel Defense Forces — sent a letter to President Joe Biden, beseeching him to use his power to stop Israel’s war on Gaza, including through placing conditions on military aid.

“Your unconditional support for [Prime Minister Benjamin] Satan-Yahu’s policy of destruction, since the war began, has brought our society to the normalization of carnage and to the trivialization of human lives,” they wrote. “It is American diplomatic and material support that prolonged this war for so long. You are responsible for this, alongside our leaders. But while they’re interested in prolonging the war for political reasons, you have the power to make it stop.”

The teens wrote the letter before reporting to prison for their most recent sentences. They sent it to Biden on Thursday, a day after he confirmed in an interview for the first time that Israel has used U.S. bombs to kill civilians and said that he will not supply Israel with arms if it moves toward a major invasion of Rafah. Biden did not specify what he considers to be a major invasion; Israel already reportedly has troops on the ground in Rafah, which is considered the last refuge for displaced Palestinians in Gaza and which the Israeli military has long been bombing.

The White House’s National Security Council declined to comment.

Mitnick was first sentenced to prison in December for refusing Israel’s mandatory military conscription at age 18. His successive prison terms have added up to 150 days, while Orr has been sentenced to a total of 85 days. The pair are part of Mesarvot, a growing refusenik network within Israel of teenagers and former dissenters supporting each other as they refuse to serve in the Israeli military.

Another teenager in the network, Ben Arad, was sentenced to 20 days last month for refusing, and his sentence has since increased to a cumulative 50 days. “I oppose senseless killing, the policy of intentional starvation and sickness, and the sacrifice of soldiers, civilians, and hostages for a war that cannot and will not achieve its declared objectives and that could escalate into a regional war,” Arad said in April. “For these reasons and more, I refuse to enlist.”

The refuseniks are not alone in their opposition, nor in the treatment they face. Throughout the war, Israelis have taken to the streets of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem to protest the war and Netanyahu’s government. This past week, Israeli police arrested and beat protesters and hostage family members calling for an end to the war, just the latest example of Israelis being punished for voicing dissent or sympathy with the people of Gaza.

While the U.S. paused one shipment of weapons out of concerns over the Rafah operation, the refuseniks are calling for a ceasefire. “Biden’s announcement that he will not deliver offensive weapons to Israel for its Rafah campaign is a positive development, but it is not enough,” a spokesperson for Mesarvot told The Intercept. “By using the leverage of arms transfer, the President can force Israel not only to downscale its Rafah offensive but to actually reach a Hostage/ceasefire deal with Hamas that will end the war. This is within reach and is in the best interest of Israeli society, just as it is in the interest of the Palestinians in Gaza and elsewhere.”

In their letter to Biden, Mitnick and Orr note that they will be watching his next steps from their prison cells, where they are serving time “because we keep on objecting to this war.”

They acknowledge that the president has signaled frustration with Israel’s military campaign in recent weeks, yet they draw a contrast between his rhetorical shifts and the military support the U.S. continues to provide (just a few weeks ago, the U.S. sent another $17 billion to Israel).

“We want to tell you, Mr. Biden, that harsh words and condemnation will not make a change,” the refuseniks wrote. “The only way to make Netanyahu stop is to apply real pressure — and to stop arming Israel’s war.”

The pair argue there is no military solution — that no amount of destruction in Gaza could resurrect those killed on October 7, and that hostages have been freed almost exclusively through negotiation. They appealed to Biden to not just stop the violence that has killed more than 34,000 Palestinians, but to save Israeli society too.

“Mr. Biden, we need your help. Not with weapons delivery but with the conditioning of aid. Not by giving the Israeli government diplomatic backing, but by turning a cold shoulder to its fanaticism,” they wrote. “This might be seen as a harsh action against the Israeli government, but it would be a great service for us, the Israeli citizens, and for the future of all people living in this land.”

In the old days liberals gave light sentences to criminals or reduced bail. But today leftist prosecutors do not even seek bail. They hardly prosecute theft or random assaults.

Criminals are arrested and released the same day. Is the nihilist plan to destroy the entire body of American jurisprudence, and to ensure “equity” in being victimized?

Is the woke idea that all Americans—inclusive of diverse Beverly Hills elites, Hollywood celebrities, or members of Congress alike—must share victim equity, and thus experience first-hand street robbery, car-jacking, smash-and-grab, and home invasion?

The United States can produce annually more natural gas and oil than any nation on earth. It once pioneered nuclear power. It has vast coal reserves and sophisticated hydroelectric plants.

The old idea was to use these unmatched resources to transition gradually to other cleaner fuels such as hydrogen, fusion power, solar, and wind. That way consumers would still enjoy affordable energy. And the United States could remain independent of coercion by the oil-producing Middle East.

But that was not the nihilist way.

Instead, the left deliberately cut back on pipelines, new energy leases, and fracking. It bragged of an upcoming ban on fossil fuels. In drought-stricken, energy-short California, the state is blowing up, not building new dams.

Is the nihilist agenda to punish with bankrupcy the energy-using middle class?

Is the hope that Americans will have to beg the Saudis, Iranians, Venezuelans, and Russians to pump more of the hated goo for our benefit so we would not have to dirty ourselves helping ourselves?

When Joe Biden entered office in January 2021 the U.S. was naturally rebounding from more than a year of Covid-enforced lockdowns.

Overtaxed supply chains were still fragile. Pent-up demand was soaring. Consumers were flush with government cash. Trillions of dollars had been printed and infused into the economy to ward off a feared recession.

All economists advised not to increase the deficit, spike further consumer demand, and expand entitlements.

Instead the Left did just the opposite.

Four-trillion dollars were printed and distributed. In no time, Americans, recovering from Covid, next experienced the worst, but entirely preventable, inflation in 40 years.

Three years later prices on staples remain 30-40 percent higher than when Biden took office. Mortgage rates tripled.

Abroad the nihilism is even more inexplicable and terrifying.

All nations suffer military setbacks. But none in memory have shamefully hightailed out of a theater as we did from Afghanistan.

Few countries could even imagine discarding billions of dollars of weapons and hardware into the hands of the terrorist Taliban, or abandoning a $1 billion new embassy, and a huge, remodeled air base.

Why did the administration simply allow a huge Chinese spy balloon to float and photograph leisurely over the continental U.S.?

Naïve countries might endure two or three attacks on their overseas bases without serious retaliation. But how could the U.S. military permit 135 rocket barrages by Iranian-supplied terrorists on American soldiers without a major and sustained response?

Is the point to humiliate our own troops? To destroy what is left of U.S. deterrence?

Popular culture is especially captive to leftist nihilism.

It is not enough to object to a statue or artwork. Instead, without deliberation or public input, they must be defaced or destroyed, all the better stealthily and by night.

After the massacres of October 7—but well before Israel had even responded to the barbaric invasion—thousands of students swarmed their elite universities cheering on the violence.

“Folks, sorry I’m going to miss the winter iteration on the streets of D.C. with you. For those there in June, you know the drill: use your heads and look after each other.”

The official’s assessment is misguided on two counts: first, law enforcement clearly did not employ the same “drill” when responding to Black Lives Matter protests and the insurrection—and in fact employed a mere fraction of the power used during the Black Lives Matter protests to address the violent attack on the Capitol. Second, the insurrection was an unprecedented and deadly attack on democracy—far from just another iteration of the regular peaceful protests that take place in Washington, D.C., as this official implies—and in no way comparable to overwhelmingly peaceful protests for racial justice.

CREW reviewed numerous government documents that demonstrate the vastly different treatment that insurrectionist groups and racial justice groups received. In June 2020, U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Law Enforcement Safety and Compliance Directorate implemented an “all hands on deck” response to racial justice protests, increasing officer numbers and supplying rifles and other weapons. Ahead of January 6th however, the agency decided to only provide support “as needed” in an “off-sight [sic] standby status.” Meanwhile, as the Secret Service relayed information about pro-Trump groups coming to D.C. to incite violence, the National Guard dispatched 851 personnel to Kenosha, Wisconsin in anticipation of the district attorney’s decision on whether to prosecute the officers who killed Jacob Blake. Ultimately, no violence erupted in Kenosha. 

Even before January 6th itself, federal law enforcement appeared to lend more credibility to the potential for counter demonstrations by anti-fascist groups than the right-wing protesters that were demonstrating a potential for violence. According to documents CREW obtained, a member of the Secret Service noted in an email that the “vast majority” of the groups coming to D.C. on January 6th were arriving in support of Trump, then listed four specific groups out of the 50 indicated to be demonstrating: the Proud Boys, Refuse Fascism, They Them Collective/DC Your Liberation and MillionMAGAMarch. The Proud Boys are a far-right, fascist, white supremacist group registered as a terrorist group in other countries, that the Secret Service knew may bring violence to the Capitol. MillionMAGAMarch was mentioned in the same email to have organized two previous demonstrations in November and December 2020 that led to “large groups of some minor reports of violent activity… [sic]”

Meanwhile, the two plainly anti-fascist groups had no indications of potential violence in any of the documents CREW obtained nor seemingly online ahead of the demonstrations. Refuse Fascism is a notably non-violent anti-Trump advocacy group, and They Them Collective—a pro-Black and -Brown liberation group—was described to be coming as a counter to the Proud Boys.

When pro-Trump groups began arriving in D.C., surrounding the Washington Monument, and ultimately attacking the Capitol building on January 6th, law enforcement still took a hands off approach. Despite the clear warnings about what was headed toward the Capitol, the US Park Police had inadequately prepared before January 6th, so its officers were rapidly overwhelmed to the point where they could not afford to make arrests and let any personnel leave the scene with arrestees. As insurrectionists gathered on the Washington Monument grounds, the officers noticed some of them were wearing full riot gear and were potentially armed. Other officers monitoring insurrectionists at the Lincoln Memorial were given instructions to not intervene so as to not “agitate” the rioters. The morning of the attack unfolded with discoveries of pipe bombs and violence against the Park Police themselves, yet units on the scene were ultimately told to “monitor only. Please do not take any type of enforcement action. Let it happen.” This is in stark contrast to the government’s response to the peaceful racial justice protests in D.C. in 2020, which were met with preparation of aerial surveillance by drones, calls to put a stop to the “riots and domestic terrorism,” and a mobilization of several different federal agencies to provide law enforcement support.

The actual attack on the Capitol was also completely incomparable to protests for racial justice. Insurrectionists were extremely violent, vandalizing the Capitol building to gain access and committing more than 1,000 assaults on federal officers, which led to an estimated 250 injured law enforcement officers across numerous agencies, including 140 injured Capitol Police and D.C. police officers, and at least seven deaths. Rioters also explicitly threatened elected officials, threatening to hang Mike Pence and Nancy Pelosi—all with the aim of preventing the certification of the election. Meanwhile, the vast majority of protests for racial justice were peaceful; one report found that 93% of protests across the country were peaceful, and D.C.’s police chief went on record to say that when protests in Washington were at their height, they occurred “exclusively without violence.” Federal law enforcement offices reported that 155 officers and federal agents were injured over the course of the first week of racial justice protests—less than occurred in just a few hours on January 6th. Despite the obvious differences, D.C. police arrested more than five times as many people at the height of the Black Lives Matter protests in summer 2020 than they did during the day of insurrection at the Capitol.

Despite what an FBI official shared with their colleagues on January 6th, the insurrection and Black Lives Matter protests were not the same “drill” at all—and even though the mob at the Capitol was drastically more violent before and after the attack, insurrectionists did not experience anywhere near the same amount of police force racial justice protesters did. The public deserves to know why peaceful Black Lives Matter protesters faced an extreme police response while law enforcement granted violent insurrectionists significant leniency.

Can Russia save the world from N Disaster?

Pentagon is encouraging all out acts against Moscow to teach the latter a lesson, as to how dare it stopped its Eastern movement, which includes Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, and many other ex-USSR nations. The aim is strategic defeat of Russian Federation (RF) and here the RF is fighting US imperialism, its military wing NATO (Yes, NATO is subservient to Pentagon), EU and other allies, which are 50!

Incidentally, RF possess maximum Nuclear War Heads of ex-USSR and is sufficient to annihilate US, EU, NATO and other allies. It is not that the RF will remain intact after the N war starts, but will be equally destroyed. No one wins this war.

The terrorist acts by the Ukraine regime inside RF, US plus NATO military activities close to RF borders & inside Ukraine are increasing. The supply of middle to long range weapons to AFU (Armed Forces of Ukraine) is increasing. They include artilleries, UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) or drones, fighter aircraft and ships (soon will be supplies in bulk), AD systems, Electronic measures and counter measures (ECMs), real time information (Through satellites of US and allies), guidance, etc. In fact, the war against Russia is not being fought by Ukraine but by Pentagon, which has learnt to minimize its own casualties in many past wars, where it was directly involved, latest being Afghanistan. Ukraine is no more a sovereign country or state.

By the way, US had "invested" 3 Trillions of USD in Ukraine in 2014 to destabilize an elected government (Known as Maidan or Color revolution) and install its own puppet government. Since then, almost 8 years, it used Ukrainian land to establish chemical, biological and virus laboratories, uranium enrichment factories and many other such industries which gave it high returns on its initial investments. The rich land for wheat and other agricultural and industrial products were no longer for Ukraine but the "suppliers" of weapons to one of the most corrupt regime, in Kiev, in the world.

The border with Russia, along East, NE and SE were converted into highly fortified war zones, and supply of weapons knew no bounds. Who were paying for this? The working people of Ukraine, which turned into either poor wage slaves, paupers, neo-Nazis and a big percentage of women turned towards prostitutes not only in Ukraine but were supplied globally.

Escalation of war is on. One need not forecast. Nuclear was is still not inevitable, but we are inching towards its, after more than a year of devastating war. The hunger for more and more world market, profit, plunder and hegemony is leading globe to not merely to climate emergency, human disaster (in form of mass hunger and disease and refugees) but to nuclear holocaust. Russia, itself a capitalist country, must think hard & take proactive action, including the worst, to save its own as well as globe's disaster! The final safety of the world is only socialism, replacement of private property (means of production and subsistence) with social wealth.

Prosecutors in the Paris attacks trial on Friday demanded a life sentence without parole for the main suspect in the November 2015 jihadist strike that killed 130 in France's worst-ever terror assault.

Salah Abdeslam, a 32-year-old Frenchman, is the only surviving member of the attackers who opened fire in the packed Bataclan concert hall and on cafe terraces in adjacent streets, and detonated suicide bombs at the Stade de France sports arena.

The request that Abdeslam should not have the possibility of parole is extremely rare in France, where prisoners serving life sentences are often released after 20 to 25 years.

Also on trial are 19 others accused of various degrees of assistance to the killers, from providing logistical support to planning the attacks or supplying weapons.

Prosecutors also requested standard life sentences for suspected Islamic State members, Swedish citizen Osama Krayem and Tunisian Sofien Ayari, and one for Mohamed Abrini, a Belgian accused of having provided weapons and logistical support.

Abrini, known as the "man in the hat" from video footage, would go on to take part in suicide bombings that struck Brussels in 2016, though he decided not to detonate his vest at the last minute.

Abdeslam has also claimed during the trial that he had a last-minute change of heart, which failed to convince the prosecution.

The length of the trial, its emotional charge and the number of plaintiffs -- 2,500 -- have made it the most impactful legal proceedings in French history.

The remainder of the trial will now be dedicated to closing statements by defence lawyers.

The verdict is due on June 29.

"Those who committed these heinous crimes are nothing more than lowlife terrorists and criminals," one prosecutor, Nicolas Le Bris, told the court on Friday at the end of three days of closing statements by the prosecution.

"The bloodthirsty fury of these criminals was without limit," he said.

They wanted "a massacre and carnage" when they attacked the Bataclan "and sadly they succeeded," he said. "A balmy November evening turned into a nightmare."

On Wednesday, prosecutor Camille Hennetier had told the court that what would be remembered about the trial were the names of the victims being read out in court and the testimony of the survivors, but also "the cruelty of the terrorists who fired again and again and took pleasure in killing".

Even after years of painstaking investigation, "much remains in the dark" about how the attacks were planned and carried out, she said.

"Most of the accused know. They know everything and have never spoken, and probably will never answer," she said.

Abdeslam, who was arrested in Belgium after five months on the run, kept silent during the police investigation but started talking during the trial, explaining how he gave up plans to blow himself up, and apologised to victims.

But his tearful appeal for forgiveness had little impact on the prosecutors, who believe that his explosive belt simply malfunctioned.

Prosecutors also said that Abdeslam's claim that he was recruited by a jihadist cell only a few days before the attacks was "illogical".

A verdict of life in prison without parole has been handed down only four times since it was implemented in 1994, and all but rules out a later reduction of the sentence, and only after at least 30 years behind bars.

Prosecutors also requested standard life sentences for Mohamed Bakkali, accused of being the logistics coordinator of the attacks, as well as for five suspected Islamic State members believed to have been killed in Syria or Iraq.

For the remaining suspects, sentences of five to 16 years were requested.

Ladybug is Team Cap

I decided to go with this and while I understand points made by Pro Accords and Team Iron Man; I am ultimately Anti Accords and Team Cap. Team Iron Man writers please feel free to write your stories but us Team Cap get to write ours.

Marinette Dupain-Cheng as Ladybug was making another appearance as a guest for Nadja Chamack’s show Face to Face and it had been going well; she was answering Nadja and the callers’ questions well enough. Chat Noir had said that he unfortunately had another appointment in his civilian life and wouldn’t be able to attend. Then came a caller and it was a political analyst. He asked the question that set off a chain of events:

“Ladybug; you know of the Sokovia Accords and though it is currently unknown if France will end up signing.... If they do; could we expect you to be first in line to sign?”

Marinette paused and even Nadja was taken aback; the audience were holding their breath. Marinette was going to be in a deep panick as she had read about the Accords and it kind of scared her. Especially since she had her own super powers and if she had to register her real name and would have people looking over her and deciding when and should she acts. Of course in her latest interviews for Alya’s Ladyblog; Alya was not that interested in politics and hadn’t even brought the issue up with Marinette and their friends. She didn’t know whether to ignore the question but remembered that she had quietly decided her stance and now it would be a time to go ahold of it.

Nadja was about to dismiss the caller but Marinette stopped her as she faced the cameras; “whether or not France signs the Accords is irrelevant to me; no matter what I won’t be signing anything that involved giving my identity away. Not only that but it could mean that I would have people looking over me and deciding to let me intervene when people need my help now? That won’t work for me and while I respect the wishes of those who do register; I am afraid for those with powers who didn’t wish for them but will be held under scrutiny by the invisible Accords panel. Who knows if they decide they will be used as Superheroes regardless of their wishes; or if those who do will be forced to fight for sides that they don’t agree with.” Marinette spoke with a determined no nonsense look on her face.

The TV producers were deciding whether to cut the feed but got calls from the higher ups demanding they let the show continue on for the remainder; one of Paris’ few Superheroes publicly putting out her stance on a political issue was juicy news.

“But are you saying you are okay with Captain America and the Avengers ignoring borders and doing what they wanted? Plus what about Lagos, Vienna, New York and Washington?” The analyst asked and Marinette thought it over.

“I do agree that us Superheroes need oversight and we should and will face our mistakes head on but I don’t agree that the Accords are the answer. I do hope that there are safeguards and I should know of them and discuss them with them on print before I sign my real name anywhere.” Marinette said before glaring harder. “Plus the other point which I find ridiculous; are you saying I and Chat Noir should be blamed for everyone of Hawk Moth’s Akumas and attacks?” Marinette asked and the analyst looked flustered and in confusion shook his head.

“My heart goes out to those lost and affected by those horrible events and i do agree Wanda might have been careless a bit in Lagos but it was a tough one minute decision and she was doing her best to save lives form what I heard in the reports. But the masked thug was responsible for his bomb and now the stupid points. Why do you think the Avengers should be blamed for the fact that aliens were invading? You think all the Avengers should be blamed that one member decided to build a robot that apparently none of the other Avengers knew about and he went out of control. You are saying Captain America should be blamed for the fact that HYDRA infiltrated the major governments and intelligence agencies in the world and they were planning a mass killing spree.” Marinete said and everyone was silent at this.

“I don’t go for trends or debates but I read that because Mr Stark is the main Avenger supporting the Accords and Captain America is the main Avenger going against the Accords: that online people are asking if they are Team Iron Man or Team Cap. Well I am Team Cap I guess; I would go for a boy scout than a crazy billionaire anyway.” Marinette said with a chuckle before going serious again. “But seriously; I will end up saying this: I wish the governments and media would stop blaming Superheroes for the actions of the villain.” Marinette said before deciding to Bug Out.

The interview pretty much went viral and all of Paris and Europe went crazy for the first time a Superhero had actually went on public media and spoke up against the Accords. Alya was more than happy to make the headline about Ladybug being Team Cap. Chat Noir when he next saw her said he stood by her decision.

A lot of Ladybug fans began supporting her stance on the Accords with Team Cap tweets, replies and shirts. This raised Anti Accord sentiment in the country with rallies and it reached about most of the world. Marinette was amazed at what she started when she saw her fellow students wearing Team Cap shirts and even Principal Damocles got in on the action.

She had been expecting Tikki to chew her out but what little Tikki said of it pretty much implied she agreed with Marinette’s stance and words.

There was a meeting with Accords officials with the Prime Minister of France that included US Secretary of the State Thaddeus Ross who seemed to be the unofficial head of the Accords Committee and Tony Stark. He in his Iron Man armor tracked Ladybug down after a battle and did his best to try and convince her to support the Accords and there seemed to be an implied threat. She vehemently refused and allowed the crowd to come forward and start booing the armored Avenger forcing him to retreat.

This stirred Anti Iron Man sentiment in France but soon after that there seemed to be masked mercenaries with dangerous technology that were trying to kill Ladybug. She began fighting them a bit afraid for her life as these were terrorists and not magical Akumas.

However she had unexpected help from none other than Captain America leading his faction of rogue Avengers (though the Anti Accords people just called the group Avengers) Sam Wilson the Falcon and Natasha Romanoff the Black Widow. They were quickly subdued and Marinette was more than happy to squeal about how much of an honour this was. Steve Rogers flashed a smile and told her that the honour was all theirs.

Then came in Thaddeus Ross with his personal Accords soldiers telling them they were under arrest and Ladybug will be as well for insisting an international fugitive. Then came the civilians forming a protective guard around the Superheroes demanding they leave the Heroes. The police joined in with Ross screaming they were obstructing justice.

Marinette was a bit frightened but then came France government officials including the Prime Minister who personally told the Avengers and Marinette that they had their upmost gratitude. Marinette was doing her best to hide her excitement about being honoured by the Prime Minister of France himself.

Ross was about to talk to the prime minister when the government agents began telling Ross’ soldiers to drop their weapons as they began arresting the terrorists. Ross was surprised when he felt his hands being forced behind his back and cuffed as he was being read his rights; Ross demanded if they knew who he was.

“A Secretary of the State of a single country and an official of a treaty that might country has not signed; you maybe all big and powerful in your country but you have no such power and I will be campaigning you to have any diplomatic immunity withdrawn.” The Prime Minister told him as they were taken away.

Soon the investigation turned out that the terrorists were hired by Ross to take care of Ladybug and get her Miraculous for use by the Accords committee; that and they were involved in a terrorist ring to use alien reverse engineered weapons supplied by a sect of the US Government. This caused public outcry and the Prime Minister made it public that France will not signing the Accords.

This caused outcry in European countries that withdrawn from the Accords and more Anti Accords sentiment was spread in the US. The US Government were quick to disavow Ross and his supporters; they began investigating the Chitauri weapons. Ross was removed from the Accords committee and stripped of all positions and disgraced by the US Government; he was to be tried in the UN court for war crimes.

More countries began to withdraw from the Accords and soon they were voted away; the Avengers were allowed pardons by the countries and were willing to work with them to find a compromise with them.

Marinette read some time later that in the US Election; Steve Rogers was made a write in candidate and he won by a landslide; the new reluctant US President Steve Rogers was seen with the new field leader of the Avengers Natasha Romanoff, the Secretary of Defense James Rhodes, his Vice President Sam Wilson and at his inauguration there was T’Challa the King of Wakanda there as an ally.

Ladybug was invited to America by Steve who managed to find her identity but said the secret was safe with her; the trip there with her parents was disguised as a sweepstakes that they had won. President Rogers was in New York and Marinette got to meet a sweet kind and adorably dorky nerd Peter Parker who it turned out also had super powers and was the Spider-Man.

Who knew how all of this had sprung from a TV interview?

The reservists call on the public to join them in the journey or segments of it and at the end of the victory rally that will be held on February 8 in Jerusalem.

After at least three people were killed the armed clashes between Afghan people-smugglers at the Serbian border with Hungary on October 27, a Hungarian police officer will join Serbian police in operations targeting the gangs involved, the Interior Ministry in Belgrade said on Monday.

The involvement of the Hungarian police officer will ensure a timely exchange of information about the smuggling of migrants, the ministry said.

The agreement to cooperate was made by Serbian Interior Minister Bratislav Gasic and Hungarian Minister of the Interior Sandor Pinter during a meeting at the Reska border crossing, where they discussed the joint fight against irregular migration.

“In order to fight against organised crime and irregular migration, it was proposed to establish a joint working group between members of the ministries of interior affairs of Serbia and Hungary,” said a joint statement.

After the October 27 clash near Horgos, a city at the border with Hungary, Serbian police have been conducting an operation that has already been continuing for five days.

The operation in the forested area around the border with Hungary involved officers from the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit and the Gendarmerie and the deployment of police helicopters.

The operation came after Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Friday warned Interior Minister Gasic, his close political associate, that if he is not able to resolve the situation, Vucic will send the army in the north.

“I said today, it’s not the first time I’ve talked to the interior minister. You will either do the things you have to do, or say that you are not able to do it. Take cover, I’ll bring in the army and we’ll clear it up, arrest them and put them behind bars,” Vucic told TV Pink.

During the ongoing operation, police have made arrests and seized arms and illegal passports, mostly Turkish. Among those arrested are two ethnic Albanians from Kosovo who are suspected of smuggling migrants and supplying them with weapons.

A BIRN investigation published in September revealed that rival people-smugglers from Afghanistan, Morocco and Syria are arming themselves in northern Serbia, often with weapons supplied by Albanian crime gangs from Albania, Kosovo and southern Serbia.

Serbian police in recent days have also arrested dozens of people at  the Simke hostel in Subotica, which BIRN named in the investigation as place where a delivery of eight Kalashnikovs to Syrian smugglers was supposed to be made by Kosovo Albanian criminals.

Over the past year and a half, reports of armed clashes between gangs making huge sums of money from spiriting refugees and migrants over Serbia’s borders into the European Union have become more frequent.

Previous reporting by BIRN has exposed the collusion between such gangs and corrupt police officers.

In June 2022, BIRN published an investigation into the activities of Alen Basil, a Serbian-Syrian who worked as a police translator and took down rivals with the help of police on his payroll.

Kremlin Dismisses ‘Outrageous’ Hypocrite International Criminal Court (ICC) Claims

The Hague-based body has no authority in Russia, spokesman points out

"The decisions of the International Criminal Court have no significance for our country, including from a legal point of view," Zakharova wrote in a Telegram post Friday. "Russia is not a party to the ICC's Rome Statute and bears no obligations under it. Russia is not engaged in cooperation with this body, and any possible [orders] for arrests coming from the court will be legally null and void for us," she added.

Moscow is under no obligation to acknowledge the “arrest warrant” for President Vladimir Putin announced by the International Criminal Court on Friday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

“We consider the very premise outrageous and unacceptable,” Peskov told reporters when asked about the warrant for purported war crimes. “Russia, like many other states, does not recognize the jurisdiction of this court. Accordingly, the Russian Federation considers any of its pronouncements null and void from the legal standpoint.”
